Been trying to listen to audiobook of HG Wells' Food of the Gods...busy, etc! I have not seen either movie version in full though youtube has clips--one has giant rats attacking and there's plenty of red paint masquerading as blood while the second, as I understand it, has a young boy about 7-8 feet tall telling people to get the F--- out of here! I did see Village of the Giants, which was based on it. Of course there are many books/movies about tiny people and giant animals/people, whether the people shrink (Honey I Shrunk, Shrinking Man--see below) or animals/people grew (Them!, Tarantula, 50 Foot Woman, Colossal Man)
I think the director of Village of the Giants turned decided to do a more faithful version of HG Wells and the movie version of Food of the Gods is his project. The split screening is a little too obvious in FOTG,but there was something funny about VOTG even though that one is almost a trainwreck.
The cast alone is funny. You have a young Beau Bridges, Ronnie Howard, and for fans of 60s Hollywood, there's also Tommy Kirk from Old Yeller, and The Shaggy Dog. Another one of the teens is the kid who played Mark McCain on the Rifleman...he was the one hanging off the bra of one of the giant girls.
